Last Thursday, students from 6th grade Thinking Lab exploratory had the opportunity to head towards Pittsburgh's North Shore to go to the Andy Warhol Museum and do a public art walking tour.

The Warhol Museum visit featured an excellent guided tour. We don't have pictures because they don't allow them in the museum, but students LOVED the museum! It was not what students expected from an Art Museum, and they all gave the museum glowing reviews.

After that we split up into small groups to find public art in the North Shore and the Cultural District. Highlights included the Magnolias for Pittsburgh (2 sculpted Magnolia trees installed by three live Magnolia trees), the PNC Park statues of famous Pirates (as pictured above), and Pittsburgh Variations.

Students really enjoyed this opportunity to view many (15+) examples of public art and tour a museum that most of them had never been to!

Magnolias for Pittsburgh, (not from our visit, but this image shows them more clearly since they are always in "spring" mode.
